"My Lucky Stars And Stripes" - The Song
|
"My Lucky Stars And Stripes" was written as a tribute to our grandfather and who truly lived the American dream. He was a remarkable man with an amazing story.
He barely escaped to this country with his life after witnessing the murders of his entire family in the old country. When he arrived in New York, he had only the clothes on his back and just a few cents in his pocket. He didn't know a word of English. He checked into the local YMCA and worked for room and board and at twenty-one years of age, humbled himself and went back to the 3rd grade to learn English. He ended up graduating from the University of Iowa with a degree in Horticulture and was recognized by two Presidents for his work and research. Our grandfather never took a dime from anyone and truly believed that anything was possible in America. He loved this country, and that heritage was passed down to us.
After he arrived in America, he proudly enlisted in the army to serve his new country. "My Lucky Stars And Stripes" is dedicated to America's service men and women who are also proudly serving our great country. [more info] |
